“We rattled up the 101 in their old school bus surfing and playing sold out shows. We drank whiskey and listened to old country music. Traveling with the Growlers is like being in a Hunter S. Thompson novel, weird and wild. They’re more than just a group of musicians. Like the Velvet Underground in New York City during the late 60′s, the Growlers create an atmosphere, but more than an atmosphere they create great music.”
The entire venue was blacked out by the time Ty Segall and his band came on stage, but when Ty unleashed his new masterpiece, “WAVE GOODBYE”, it put a spell over everyone. It seemed as though for a second the bartenders stopped serving and the drunkards stopped drooling, the attention was now demanded on stage. WAVE GOODBYE hit the audience so hard, it slapped them sober. Thanks to Ty everyone drove home safely that night.
GOODBYE BREAD is a Dr. Jekyll of a song, starting off smooth and slow and quickly transforming into a rugged and wild beast of a ballad. Ty was forced to play this song, after the 20th fanatic demanded him to play it, so Ty slipped into the set as his opener, and blew everyones mind.
The Strange Boys are masters of their craft, true musical genius’. It was apparent from the first second of their performance at BURGERAMA, but even more so when they played DOUEH.
The Strange Boys opened there set with a love song called “Me & You” and it was the cause of a mass migration of ladies to the front row. Soon the venue turned into a dance party, even the security guards joined in.
THE LOVE BETWEEN was recently featured in several big time surf movies, so it wasn’t surprising that when White Fence started jamming it, the whole venue knew every lyric, verse and breakdown to the song.
